All are invited to attend this event with Father Barr.

This event is offered to the public so anybody from any walk of life can

ask questions about the Catholic Faith. This includes conversations about,

but not limited to; Theology, The Bible, the Blessed Virgin Mary, history of

the Church, what the Church is, the scandals of the Church, The official

teachings of the Church, practices of the faith, Marriage, abortion, human

dignity, pro-life, how we interact with others outside the Catholic tradition,

definitions we use, and philosophy.

March For Life: March 19

The Diocese of Rockford is celebrating life at the State of Illinois Capital; Springfield, IL. It is a faith filled day with prayers and fellowship in a true Christian way. Get to know others who have the same values of life. It is a way in which you can make a real difference in letting your representatives know that every person is valuable, especially the most innocent of all, those babies who have no voice. It is a way of discovering what the pro-life community is all about and the light they bear to the world. This is a prayerful event, unlike other events that may do violence, the pro-life movement respects life and we even help pick up the garbage we may see on the streets.

Family groups are $60 per person while individuals are $80 per person.

Cost includes :

Round-trip motor coach to Springfield, ILL.
Mass, Rally, IL Pro-Life March, and Adoration.
Diocesan Pilgrimage baseball cap; option for pilgrimage hoodie available at extra cost.
Debrief discussion of the day.
Please bring a bagged lunch and money for dinner on the road.

Getting Things Done

We have been very busy this summer getting many things done with the help of so many people at Immaculate Conception. We took down the old rock garden and replanted the flowers and added a little vegetable garden. Also, we took down the old trees that were getting too big and starting to grow wild and replaced them with two Japanese Lilac trees. The Statue of Jesus was moved over to a better place for prayer and the memorial rock was moved forward so you can read it better, or sit on it to pray with Jesus. I fixed all the cracks in the St Joseph statue because of the wind blowing him over, repainted him and them mounted him on the stand. A drain in the yard was installed that is hooked up to the storm sewage. Some plants were moved to the front of the house and we finally put the sod down. It is taking a bit of watering, but it is all going well so far. The little triangle was cleaned up and we put a bench in there. works great for resting a bit when you need to.

We just got the flag poles in and plan on installing them this next week as I write this, August 18-22. We hope to order the new Mary Statue the next week and prepare to have that done by the end of September.

The foundation of the IC Church building will begin repairs on September 4 and is scheduled to be done by September 19. This will also include some repairs for the retaining walls by the outside steps and along the front below the front doors.

At Saint Patrick's Church we have one of the flag poles and are waiting the other to install them. I am also in the beginning stages of making what they call an "Ambry". This is a special piece of wood furniture, hanging on the wall, that will hold the Holy Oils used for Baptisms, Confirmations and Anointing of the Sick. I have designed it to match the stand for the tabernacle. It will be made of some oak wood I was able to purchase and some that was given to me. I hope to be able to do more for that project soon. After that, I can make some more things with the plenty of oak wood I have lying around in the shop. There is much more going on, but this gives you an idea that we are busy.

I thank God for all the volunteers. Without them, nothing could be done. They are truly a blessing to this community.I hope to write more about them. They deserve the recognition, but i have not talked to them to make sure it is ok with them that i would acknowledge it pubilcly. God bless you all!
