On Going Ministries
The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches in Paragraph #2447 that, we as a community need to help others in their spiritual and bodily needs. These two needs are divided into the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy. The Spiritual Works of Mercy are Instructing, advising, consoling, comforting, forgiving and bearing wrongs patiently (1 Thes 5:11/ Gal 6:1-2 & Col 3:12-16). The Corporal Works of Mercy are feeding the hungry, sheltering the homeless, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and imprisoned, and burying the dead (Mt 25:31-46). The ministry of the Catholic Church is founded on these principles works.
Ministry is work! It is not just sitting around all day, reading your Bible and saying prayers. Nowhere in the Bible do we see the teachings of "just Jesus and me". We are all called to "love one another" (Jn 13:34-35). Jesus said, "...the least you have done to my brethren, you have done it to me" (Mt 25:40). So loving our fellow humans is a way by which we can respond to the goodness of God and give back out of thankfulness in our hearts. It is a ministry of blessing. We are called to be a blessing to others. Yet God blesses those who are willing to respond. Those we serve become a blessing to us. So serving God in each other becomes a means by which we grow in our relationship with Him.
There are many ways to express your thankfulness and responding to God's goodness.

Christ chose some of us to be apostles, prophets, missionaries, pastors, and teachers, so that his people would learn to serve and his body would grow strong. This will continue until we are united by our faith and by our understanding of the Son of God. Then we will be mature, just as Christ is, and we will be completely like him. Ephesians 4: 11-13 (CEV)
