OCIA - Order of Christian Initiation for Adults
OCIA is the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. It is a process developed by the Catholic Church for prospective converts to Catholicism who are above the age of infant Baptism. OCIA Candidates are gradually introduced to aspects of Catholic beliefs and practices. The basic process applies to adults and older children. For those who join an OCIA process, it is a period of reflection, prayer, instruction, discernment, and formation.
This OCIA process is lead by the Parish Priest. There is no set timetable for those who join the OCIA process; Candidates are encouraged to go at their own pace, taking as much time as they need. Those who enter the OCIA process are expected to begin attending weekend Mass on Sunday/Saturday, attend OCIA sessions lead by Father, and to become increasingly involved, if possible, in the activities of this Parish.
If you are interested in becoming Catholic and would like to have Father instruct you in the OCIA process, please contact the Parish Office (815-589-3542).
